AFC Championship Game

New York Jets (2-0 Postseason, 2-0 ATS) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0 Postseason, 1-0 ATS)

Sunday, January 23: 6:30 p.m. CBS, Live from Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA

Betting Odds:

New York: +3

Pittsburgh: -3

Total: 38

NFL Bettors with sharp memories are quick to remember that it was back on December 18, that these two teams got together at Heinz Field, with the Jets stealing a 22-17 victory over the Steelers. The game was hardly pretty, as Pittsburgh had more first downs and more total yardage, yet the Jets got the win thanks to a Brad Smith kickoff return, and late safety. It was Pittsburgh"s last loss of the regular season.

With that said, both these teams are completely different, starting with the Steelers.

Simply put, the Steelers are a much more dynamic offensive team than the one that took a month ago at Heinz Field, and have been especially strong of late, putting up 72 points in the last two games. Last Saturday"s Divisional game with Baltimore especially showed the explosiveness of the passing game, as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns, with five different receivers getting at least three catches.

Still, it"s hard not to like the Jets in the Odds To Win The Super Bowl, especially because of their play of late. While Pittsburgh has been getting it done through the air, the Jets got it done on the ground against the Patriots, with a huge day by the tandem of Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson. The pair combined 119 yards on the ground, with Greene"s 16-yard fourth quarter running sealing the win.

Ultimately though, this game will come down to defense. With this game expected to be very low scoring, the Jets seem like the smart play here.

We"re not saying that the Jets will go into Heinz Field and get the win. But with that said, the extra half point they"re getting seems like it will be a big factor in a game where every point will be at a premium.

It"s also important to note that both teams had arguably their best defensive effort of 2010 last weekend. Pittsburgh held Baltimore to just 126 yards of total offense, and the Jets limited New England to 21 points, 11 less than their season average. This game is going to be a war.

Offensive stars like Tomlinson, Roethlisberger and others may be the names getting thrown around coming into this game, but it"s the defenses that will shine.

In a low scoring, grind it out football game, the Jets should be your football betting pick. When it comes to the Odds To Win The Super Bowl, they just seem safer than Pittsburgh.
