An FBI document reveals that Loughner wrote the words SI planned ahead, SMy assassination and SGiffords on an envelope signed with his name. The letter was kept in a safe in Loughner"s home, along with a letter from Congresswoman Giffords thanking him a 2007 event one not unlike Saturday"s constituency meeting outside a Safeway supermarket. Additionally, officials found a Sthreatening note Loughner had written to Giffords but never sent in which the young man wrote about his displeasure towards the Congresswoman.
In 2007, Loughner had asked Giffords SWhat is government if words have no meaning?, which some see as the result of the young man"s fixation with grammar and the power of words in political rhetoric. MSNBC"s Pete Williams put forth the theory that Loughner may have grown increasingly angry over the years as he observed this political figure he disagreed with so vehemently garner additional power while Loughner himself failed to enter the military and was forced to drop out of college. This is all speculation, certainly, but it perhaps provides a glimpse into possible motivation on Loughner"s part.
