Ive been waiting to see how this particular case would progress, and today it was announced that the lawlessness of state agencies involved in the Gosnell case will be held accountable for failing to abide by the law.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the case of Dr. Gosnell, he is a physician residing in the state of Pennsylvania who has been operating an abortion clinic (of sorts) during the past 30 years. He has raked in millions of dollars in payments during that time performing illegal and late-term abortions.
The following provides an accurate yet grisly description of the methods used by Dr. Gosnell and the conditions in his clinic:
“There were bags and bottles holding aborted fetuses were scattered throughout the building,” said Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams. “There were jars, lining shelves, with severed feet that he kept for no medical purpose.”
Gosnell has been named in at least 10 malpractice suits, but Williams said state regulators ignored complaints about his clinic and that the office hadn’t been inspected since 1993.
Patients endured barbaric procedures at the hands of the twisted doctor, officials charged.
Gosnell “induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord,” Williams said.
The current status of Dr. Gosnells clinic was discovered entirely by accident during an investigation by local police as part of an illegal prescription drug probe. They found a warren of filthy rooms wreaking of cat urine and feces, bloodstained walls and bloody blankets, women “walking around like zombies” and fetal parts in bottles and stored in plastic bags placed in the freezer.
On January 14, 2011, Dr. Gosnell was charged with the murders of seven children and one woman. The one woman he is charged with murdering was 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar who died at Dr. Gosnells clinic after receiving an overdose of anesthetics. The anesthetician was a 15-year-old operating with no license.
Employees of both the Department of Health and the Department of Justice were aware of the situation within this clinic. Dr. Gosnell was licensed as a family practitioner who was not a qualified OB/GYN. He has been named in at least 10 malpractice suits, but state regulators ignored complaints about his clinic and the office hadn’t been inspected since 1993.
I had little doubts with all the evidence against him that Dr. Gosnell would be charged for these crimes. This man had preyed primarily on poor people of race, and his hideous, despicable actions speak for themselves. But Ive wondered what the response on the part of the state legal system in PA would be toward these state agencies. This is an example of lawlessness within our government of agencies that should be enforcing the laws that protect the general public from individuals such as this doctor. They failed to do so and in this failure, did they become complicit in those deaths?
Today, it was announced that these two agencies are being investigated for enforce the laws of the state.
Testifying before a Senate joint committee meeting, Williams laid out a case of a massive system failure by the Departments of State and Health which he said ignored years of complaints and allowed the abortion clinic run by a doctor now charged with murder to operate for unchecked for almost two decades.
Williams and his top deputies told a joint Senate hearing that had any state official followed up on a single piece of the voluminous amount of evidence suggesting wrongdoing, or set foot in the filthy clinic, it would have immediately been shut down.
The officials at the State Department of Health have now become dismissive of the allegations against Gosnell to which they are now associated. They have also pursued obtaining outside legal representatives for their defense at the present cost of $116,000 to the taxpayers of Pennsylvania.
Under the state law in Pennsylvania, clinics such as Dr. Gosnells are not considered to be an outpatient facility. They do not have to abide by the laws governing outpatient facilities, which is a contributory factor to why this particular physician was able to hide under the guise of providing a valuable service to the community for as a long as he did.
In their efforts to control the narrative, those who support abortion will say that this is why abortion should be made legal and free to all who choose it, supported by government funding. When we normally would hear from the left how government has a responsibility to protect us from greedy capitalists, we hear justification of this mans actions.
The reality is there we do have laws that were established for the purpose of protecting the public from the hideous actions of these kinds of physicians, but when those entrusted to enforce the law fail to do so, it perpetuates the kind of environment that allows these types of situations to take place again and again and again.
And there is no agenda that can be justified by this. None.
