United States jolted by numerous earthquakes Dec 30th

Earthquake reports from all over America were the highlight of today’s news. Almost all the news channels were consistently reporting about earthquakes jolting residential areas throughout the country. It is reported that most of the earthquakes were absolutely unpredicted and unprecedented; almost all the affected areas have never experienced an earthquake.

Indiana received the fiercest jolt as compared to the other states; its magnitude on the rector scale was 4.2. Hawaii and Alaska were the next ones to experience quakes of magnitude 3.8 and 3.6, respectively.

It is reported that the first earthquake was registered today in Indiana around 8 am in the morning. Most of the residents even didn’t feel the shaking earth until and unless the switched on the local news channels; the magnitude of the quake was pretty low. Despite being an innocuous earthquake, it caused lot of panic and fear in thousands of people.

Experts believe that today’s earthquake was caused by the movement of plates 25 miles below the surface of the earth. Although, the initial earthquake and its aftershocks were of significantly low magnitude, all these areas are not safe in the future. An earthquake of greater magnitude is certainly not out of the picture.

No cases of physical injuries or property loss were reported today; though some of the hospitals registered an increase in the usual number of heart patients.

Country Road District has been declared as the exact epicentre of today’s earthquake; government officials have asked the media to aware the general public about the safety precautions in case of an analogous earthquake in future.
