BGR were told by its source that the newly added multi-touch gestures for the iPad was one of the stepping stones for such a decision, with this control system on-board the commonplace home button won"t be needed. Instead of physically pressing the button you will be able to use gestures to navigate to the home screen and launch the multi-tasking App switcher menu.
If this is the case you can read between the lines and work out that the next gen iPad and iPhone products will be void of the physical home button all together. This is something that Steve Jobs dreamed about in his early plans for the iPhone, so it could well be that the next installments will be smooth as smooth can be.
